During our taining last Tuesday night to Wednesday morning I was caught sleeping several times by our trainor (he's gay by the way). Actually I was observing the class and there were 4 of us who were really sleeping; me, a pair of lovers, and the one they call "kilabot ng mga bading" (because he was really popular with the gay employees in our company).
Before our last break, I, and the lovers, but not this "other guy" were called to acknowledge our ECFR (it's a way of communication in our office, some sort of email thingy or what you may want to call it) regarding sleeping in the class and it was written there that it will be the final warning. As a sign of obedience of a subordinate to a superior i hesitantly clicked on the acknowledge button like the 3 others did. I tried to hide my true feelings regarding this trying to act professional as much as I can. What I did was, right after our shift I talked to him in the calmest manner I know first thing I said is sorry if you got offended because I was sleeping and I started asking several questions like why for us it's already a final warning without even talking to us regarding this, I was aking if it is only us that he saw sleeping and he was not able to give out an answer. I asked if this is the proper escalation process when infact to those that he caught during the level 1 training he talked to them first for like forever and never gave this ECFR thing, and all he did was to give out unacceptable answers.
I and my colleagues were talking about this, most of the people I talked to sympathized and were saying it's not just our fault and this trainer should be aware of his skills and competency.(given that they were not even close friends of mine) It was not my fault or any colleague's alone. If the problem is only with us, or anyone of us then not everybody would me feeling sleepy in classs.
Companies should evaluate their trainers and the one who are in a supervisory level to keep their agents from resigning. They should make sure that they could handle people and not be subjective in acting out and running policies. They should be able to command respect without even asking for it. I keep asking how come this person was promoted as a trainer when infact he has below average communication skills and he was teaching basic skills training to new hires which includes teaching communication skills. He was just good at using the system but nothing more.
See, in just one month time, 32 employees resigned from that company. It's only showing how incompetent most of the superiors are,
